Hope this week has been treating you well. Today I'm back with a getting to know me post so maybe we can connect a little more. Photo taken graciously by @erishyllmphotography.
Political: Many people already know this, but I have been participating in my state's politics for quite a while. While I'm not as active in it as I used to be, I started working on campaigns when I was 15 (I'm 20 now). My first campaign experience was like none other and I love the people I worked with to this day. I consider them my family even though we don't talk that often! The other few campaigns I've worked on have never lived up to the first one though. Many of them were very tough to get through, but they were definitely good experiences. While I no longer consider myself apart of the party I once worked for, I am still grateful to everyone who gave me a chance.
College: I have been in college for two years now, and I haven't exactly had the best time, but I haven't had the worst time. I don't prefer the campus I'm on right now but am grateful that my parents have allowed me to live at home rent free while I get community college out of the way. The plans are to go to my state's flagship university this fall to obtain a degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Strategic Communication. This degree is really interesting because it is all about marketing, advertising, public relations, and well...communication. I'm not necessarily interested in doing broadcasts. I love the strategic elements of PR, and want to implement these in my future profession as well.
Future goals/aspirations: I have one major dream, and that is to work for the President of the United States in the White House, and I want to work in his/her communications department. Ultimately, I want to be the next female Toby Ziegler (West Wing reference). I don't see this happening for a really long time though, so in the meantime I would like to work in consulting/lobbying. I think that having PR knowledge is important in these professions, so that's why I chose that degree.
